| DESCRIPTION | |
The “Art Gallery Hotel” is an internationally renowned family Hotel centrally located in a pleasant residential area, just a few minutes walking distance to the Acropolis, the area of Plaka (the old city) and about 15 minutes to Syntagma, Athens’ main central square. The area is representative of local Athens life and can serve as a starting point for “historic” city walks, visits and shopping with an attractive pedestrian alley full of cafes, tavernas and restaurants just across the corner. The name “Art Gallery" has its origins in the latest half of the previous century, where one of the country’s finest lady artist, Dora Bouki, member of the family, lived and worked here. Her work as an impressionist painter has enjoyed vast positive critics with local and international exhibitions for over fourty years. Many of her paintings still decorate the Hotel. The “Art Gallery Hotel” was recently renovated with great care to keep its old flair. Wooden floors, marble stairs and the old family furniture have been preserved by architect Yannis, one of the Hotel owners. Family management, under Yannis, Ada and Ethel, ensures a unique quality of personal service certified by the major international travel guides (Rick Steve’s, Lonely Planet, Guide du Routard, Michelin, Frommer’s, Fodor’s, Let's Go and others). The Hotel offers a relaxing accommodation environment and our 21 rooms are characterised by their simplicity of use. They are equipped with private bathrooms, central heating / air-conditioning, TV sets, private telephone lines and mini-bars. At the lounge on the top floor (lift / elevator in service) our guests may take their breakfasts or enjoy a refreshing drink at the bar, either indoors at the old Atelier or outside at the main balcony, from where the Acropolis can be admired. Furthermore, the Hotel desk may prove to be a valuable source of information on how to get around the capital, where to go, where to eat and what to see. We may also arrange on behalf of our guests car rentals, organised tours and visits to the mainland and the islands. Free of charge luggage storage is provided.
