INFORMATION ABOUT BEAUFORT

As North Carolinas third oldest town, Beaufort traces its unspoiled
historic past to Indians and whalers and, more recently, to sport fishing
and vacationing. With over 100 beautifully restored historic private homes
located along peaceful, tree-lined streets and along the waterfront, fine
restaurants, shops, the Maritime Museum, the historical Restoration
Grounds and ferries to Rachel Carson Sanctuary and Shackelford Banks,
Beaufort has maintained its wonderful charm over the centuries. Other
points of interest include the Rachel Carson Estuarine Reserve, the Cape
Lookout National Seashore and Fort Macon State Park.
